A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending 26th Annual Heart of the Community Board of Governors' Award Winner Mr. Earl Tillman; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Earl Tillman's reputation for community service and selfless dedication to others has been recognized by the Heart of the Community Foundation, Inc., and the Redmond Regional Medical Center with the 2012 Heart of the Community Board of Governors' Award; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tillman has uplifted the community through his service to numerous organizations, including as deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, as a commander of the Civil Air Patrol, as alumni president at Berry College, as a public motivational speaker, and by participating in search and rescue missions; and

WHEREAS, he is the published author of If You Talk the Talk, You Gotta Walk the Walk and Don't Depress Laughter, It Will Go Down On You and Make Your Hips Bigger; and

WHEREAS, he is united in love and marriage to Carolyn Tillman and is blessed with two remarkable children, Tamara Tillman Smathers and Gary Tillman; and

WHEREAS, the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable man serve as a shining example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have Mr. Tillman as a citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Earl Tillman on his outstanding community service and congratulate him on his receipt of the prestigious 2012 Heart of the Community Board of Governors' Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Earl Tillman.
