A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Norcross High School girls basketball team for winning the 2010 Class AAAAA
State Championship and inviting them to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Norcross High School girls basketball team demonstrated a feat of greatness
with a 76-63 victory over Redan to clinch the 2010 Class AAAAA State
Championship; and
WHEREAS,
this incredible team finished the season with a record of 28-4 and earned
Norcross High School its first-ever state championship in girls basketball;
and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team and their superb offensive and defensive
talents; and
WHEREAS,
this all-star team included 12 stellar athletes dedicated to bringing a state
title home to Norcross High School: Briana Jordan, Javonne Stanfield, Bianca
O'Neal, Justine Nelson, Judean Hanks, Odesha Walwyn, Kaela Davis, Mary Ann Sims,
Alexandra DeMercy, Diamond DeShields, Emaree Cobb, and Nia Ladson;
and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Blue basketball team were challenged to succeed and led by the astute
direction of Head Coach Angie Hembree and Assistant Coaches Jay Nebel, Troy
Nasworthy, and Erica Tartt; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Hembree was named the Gwinnett County Girls Coach of the Year and while
the Norcross' girls are state champions for the first time, it was the fourth
state title for Coach Hembree; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Norcross High School girls basketball team for
winning the 2010 Class AAAAA State Championship and invite them to be recognized
by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the
Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Angie Hembree.
