A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Michael Brown on the occasion of his retirement as Savannah City Manager; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Michael Brown has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service as Savannah City Manager for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown's significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, a native of Prince William County, Virginia, Mr. Brown earned his bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, this dedicated leader has been instrumental in the City of Savannah's growth and economic development during the last two decades, including the revitalization of several Savannah monuments, the renovation of Forsyth Park, the establishment of drainage projects in West Savannah, the introduction of curbside recycling, and the building of River Walk and the World War II monument; and

WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has served with honor and distinction with the City of Savannah, and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement as he moves to Virginia with his wife, Linda Lee, to serve as a county manager in Arlington; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Michael Brown for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him on his new position as county manager; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael Brown.
