A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Northeast Georgia Medical Center; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Northeast Georgia Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation by Thomson Reuters, an independent news and business organization; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious study evaluated nearly 3,000 acute care, nonfederal hospitals in ten areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, patient satisfaction, adherence to clinical standards of care, and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for acute heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being named to the Top 100, Northeast Georgia Medical Center received an Everest Award, honoring 23 of the Top 100 hospitals demonstrating top performance and accelerated improvement; and

WHEREAS, as an Everest Award winner, Northeast Georgia Medical Center is recognized as a standard bearer for hospital improvement and national benchmark setter for health care performance; and

WHEREAS, Northeast Georgia Medical Center's success is due to the dedicated efforts of each of its physicians, employees, board members, volunteers, and administrators; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of President and CEO Jim Gardner and Director of Government Affairs Deb Bailey, Northeast Georgia Medical Center has established itself as an organization that provides exceptional health care for the people of Northeast Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine hospital and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Northeast Georgia Medical Center for providing superior health care to the people of Northeast Georgia; recognize its physicians, employees, board members, volunteers, and administrators for establishing compassionate, efficient, and effective standards of care; and congratulate the facility on being recognized as a Top 100 hospital.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
