RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 80th birthday of Mrs. Sallie Mae Gross; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Sallie Mae Gross was born on May 1, 1930, the beloved daughter of Louis and
Georgia Ann Bostic; and
WHEREAS,
a life-long resident of Jefferson County, Georgia, Mrs. Gross was educated in
the Jefferson County School System and retired from the Oxford Shirt Company
after 26 years of devoted service; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gross was united in love and marriage to Horace Gross on April 23, 1949,
and she has been blessed with seven loving and devoted children, Horace Gross,
Jr., Edward Gross, Mamie Gross Ross, Imogene Butler, Louis Gross, Henry Gross,
and Patricia Bostic; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have
developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Gross is an active member of Pierce
Grove Baptist Church, where she serves as Mother of the Church and is active in
the missionary ministry and deaconess board; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gross has served on the usher board and the junior usher board of her
church and worked as a housekeeper until 2009; and
WHEREAS,
a community leader, Mrs. Gross is a member of the Wadley/Bartow Concerned
Citizens League, serves as president of the Fair and Honest Society, and is a
member of the Morning Star Society; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made
of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is
only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending Mrs. Sallie Mae Gross on the occasion of her 80th
birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sallie
Mae Gross.
