A RESOLUTION


Commending Laura Mikszan, outstanding Georgia citizen, and recognizing Saturday, May 15, 2010, as "World Campus Day"; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Laura Mikszan is the founder and CEO of "World of Kids," a gymnastics, cheerleading, and aquatic campus on Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, her personal vision, which has been the focus of her business for the last 20 years, has always been to help provide children with a sense of accomplishment, and her moto is that "every child needs to have fun and be successful"; and

WHEREAS, over the last two decades, Ms. Mikszan has built a six-acre campus, which includes a 21,000 square-foot facility which houses a gymnastics and cheerleading center, classrooms and party room facilities, and a swim facility; and

WHEREAS, with programs now offered for all ages at the center, this outstanding entrepreneur has announced that the facility will be renamed the "World Campus"; and

WHEREAS, from May 10 through 15, 2010, the facility will host the Character Counts Classic, focusing on the Six Pillars of Character and featuring performances by world gymnastics and cheerleading students, and the week-long event will be followed by the unveiling of its new name, "World Campus," to represent the new generation of programs that are being offered for both youths and adults; and

WHEREAS, in addition to owning a successful business and being a valuable community partner, Laura Mikszan's dedication to her community is further demonstrated by her active service as a volunteer in numerous civic and outreach organizations; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished lady is a person of magnanimous strengths, and, by the example she has made of her life and work, she has made our state a better place in which to live.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Laura Mikszan for her many contributions to the citizens of the State of Georgia and recognize Saturday, May 15, 2010, as "World Campus Day."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Laura Mikszan.
