RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the tenth anniversary of the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree
Program; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program is sponsored by the American
Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the China Center for
International Educational Exchange (CCIEE); and
WHEREAS,
the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program grants bachelor's degrees from a
participating AASCU member college or university and a CCIEE member Chinese
institution; and
WHEREAS,
students in the the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program complete their
freshman year at a Chinese university, their sophomore and junior years at an
American school, and their senior year at the home Chinese university and earn
degrees from both the United States institution and the Chinese university;
and
WHEREAS,
Georgia Southwestern State University participates in this unique program, which
benefits both the participating students and university as well as Americus,
Georgia, and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS,
100 universities now participate in the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program,
with over 1,200 successful participants, including 270 admitted into the program
by 17 American universities in the Fall, 2009, semester; and
WHEREAS,
next fall, as the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program celebrates its tenth
anniversary, Georgia Southwestern State University will host 14 students and
four visiting scholars, who will greatly enrich the academic experience for all
Georgia Southwestern State University students and faculty; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine
program and its numerous contributions to the students of both Georgia and
China be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Sino-American 1+2+1 Dual Degree Program for enriching the
educational experience of countless students and recognize this amazing program
on the occasion of its tenth anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copies of this resolution to the
American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the China Center for
International Education Exchange.
