RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the members of the Board of Directors of the Faith and Clergy
Commission; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the purpose of the Faith and Clergy Commission, Inc., is to express appreciation
and gratitude to members of the clergy and faith communities and conduct a
gathering or meeting at least once annually at the capitol during the session of
the Georgia General Assembly, along with any other state or federal legislative
or political body; and
WHEREAS,
this commission's purpose is to facilitate dialogue between elected or public
servants, faith leaders, and faith communities and to advance respect and
recognition for the unique roles and contributions of faith leaders and faith
communities; and
WHEREAS,
this commission's purpose is to advance innovative cooperation between faith
communities and government in addressing human and community needs and the
delivery of services in areas of mutual interest consistent with the First
Amendment of the United States Constitution advancing no law respecting the
establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
and
WHEREAS,
this organization, in its activities, is nonpartisan, nonsectional, and
nonsectarian; and
WHEREAS,
the commission provides it shall not by resolution or otherwise be committed to
the support or endorsement of any candidate for public office; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the Board of Directors of the Faith and Clergy Commission are:
Dr. Creflo Dollar, Bishop Wellington Boone, Bishop Eddie L. Long, Apostle Jackie
Tyler, Dr. Michael Battle, Minister Ryan Bagnal, Representative Randal Mangham,
Representative Jay Neal, Representative Randy Nix, Representative Mack Jackson,
and Senator Donzella James.
WHEREAS, it is only fitting that these individuals be recognized for their service, dedication, and participation in the 9th Annual Faith and Clergy Day as well as their outstanding service on the board of directors.
WHEREAS, it is only fitting that these individuals be recognized for their service, dedication, and participation in the 9th Annual Faith and Clergy Day as well as their outstanding service on the board of directors.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend these individuals for their leadership and
dedication to the citizens of the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the individual
members of the Board of Directors of the Faith and Clergy Commission.
