A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Lakeside High School boys soccer team on winning the 2008 Class AAAA State
Championship and inviting the team to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the Lakeside High School boys
soccer team earned the top ranking in the state with their 3-1 shootout win over
Southeast Whitfield, earning the school its seventh State Championship title in
soccer; and
WHEREAS,
these Vikings completed their impressive 20-1-1 season with their 16th shutout
of the year after dominating the playoffs with four shutout victories;
and
WHEREAS,
the championship game overtime was the Vikings' sixth overtime for the season
and the team's fifth game to be determined by penalty kicks; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Rick Barbe; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Lakeside High School boys soccer team for winning the
2008 Class AAAA State Championship and extend their sincerest best wishes for
future success.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the players and coaches of the Lakeside High School
boys soccer team are hereby invited to appear before the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for
purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of
this resolution.
