RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Sara Walton; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sara Walton, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, has earned national recognition with a 2009
Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
WHEREAS,
established in 1995 by Prudential Financial and the National Association of
Secondary School Principals, the Prudential Spirit of Community Award honors
young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary
commitment to service in their community; and
WHEREAS,
a senior at Fannin County High School, over the past nine years Sara Walton has
raised more than $25,000 to be used to purchase an MRI machine for the operating
room at Scottish Rite Hospital; and
WHEREAS,
after being treated at Scottish Rite herself for a brain tumor ten years ago,
Sara Walton worked tirelessly to collect funds by participating in craft shows
and soliciting donations from friends, family members, and the public;
and
WHEREAS,
the success of the State of Georgia, the strength of communities, and the
vitality of this nation depend heavily upon the service of young people and
their willingness to devote their time, energy, and talent to others;
and
WHEREAS,
Sara Walton represents the true spirit of service, kindness, and responsibility,
and the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation to the future of this
bright and promising young student.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Sara Walton's incredible community service to this state and
extend congratulations for being recognized with a 2009 Prudential Spirit of
Community Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sara Walton.
