BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act to incorporate the City of Chattahoochee Hill Country (now known as
City of Chattahoochee Hills) in Fulton County, approved April 28, 2006
(Ga. L. 2006, p. 3821), as amended, so as to change the terms of
the mayor and council; to provide for elections; to provide for related matters;
to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act to incorporate the City of Chattahoochee Hill Country (now known as City of
Chattahoochee Hills) in Fulton County, approved April 28, 2006
(Ga. L. 2006, p. 3821), as amended, is amended by revising
subsections (b) and (c) of Section 2.02 as follows:
"(b)
The first general municipal elections shall be held on the Tuesday next
following the first Monday in November 2007. Thereafter, general municipal
elections shall be held on the Tuesday next following the first Monday in
November in the odd-numbered year following by more than two years the year in
which said first municipal election is held, and biennially
thereafter.
(c)
The first mayor and the initial councilmembers shall take office on the first
day of the first month immediately following the first municipal election
provided for in subsection (b) of this section and shall serve for terms
which expire when their successors take office in January of the first year
immediately following the second municipal election provided for therein. The
mayor and councilmembers representing Post 2 and Post 4 who shall take office as
provided in Code Section 21-2-541.1 of the O.C.G.A. following the second
municipal election shall serve for a term of two years expiring when the
successors take office. Thereafter, the mayor and councilmembers for Post 2 and
Post 4 shall take office as provided in Code Section 21-2-541.1 of the O.C.G.A.
and serve for terms of four years. Councilmembers for Post 1, Post 3, and Post
5 shall serve for terms of four years and shall take office as provided in Code
Section 21-2-541.1 of the O.C.G.A. The initial members and future members of
the governing authority shall serve until their successors are elected and
qualified."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
