RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Georgia Food Industry Association on its centennial anniversary; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Food Industry Association's primary purpose is to unite, serve, and
advocate on behalf of the food industry; and
WHEREAS,
a nonprofit organization, the Georgia Food Industry Association was founded by a
group of independent grocers in 1912 and represents grocers ranging from the
smallest independent retailer to the largest chain store; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Food Industry Association consists of over 400 members, retailers,
wholesalers, and suppliers and is the only nonprofit organization in this state
that solely represents the legislative and regulatory interests of Georgia
grocers; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Food Industry Association provides continuing education and seminars
to members of the food industry; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine
organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
the Georgia Food Industry Association for its contributions to the grocery
industry and congratulate the association's board of directors on the
organization's 100 years of service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Food Industry
Association.
