RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Franklin County High School girls basketball team; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
members of the Franklin County High School girls basketball team have earned a
reputation for excellence in athletics and academics; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Lions have had a successful 2010-2011 season with an impressive 22-10
record and won the Region 8AAA championship title, the Lady Lions' eighth
regional trophy in the last ten years; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of their superb
offensive and defensive talents and the outstanding athletic ability, the
dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of
the team; and
WHEREAS,
this all-star team included stellar athletes Autumn Brooks, Mary Catherine
Burrell, Josie Eavenson, Shakara Little, Sierra Simpson, Kortnee Goss, Olivia
Moon, Michelle "Kat" Wynn, Jackie Williams-Perry, and Kaneshia Thomas;
and
WHEREAS,
the team was led by the astute direction of Head Coach Holly Wilk and Assistant
Coaches Jonathan Harris and Laura Baker; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Wilk has been coaching for 32 years, has been a coach of the Lady Lions
for 15 years, and has taken the Lady Lions to 13 straight state tournament
appearances; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision throughout the season and have
come to earn their well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic
achievement, quality of play, and superior sportsmanship.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Franklin County High School girls basketball team for its unparalleled
achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Holly Wilk.
