A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Honorable Ralph T. Hudgens upon his election as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Ralph T. Hudgens has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Hudgens's public service began with an appointment in the administration of President George H.W. Bush, and he went on to be elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1996; and

WHEREAS, he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and this state as a State Senator from 2002 to 2010; and

WHEREAS, he is one of the state's foremost experts on insurance, business regulation, and consumer issues, having served as chairman of the Insurance and Labor Committee, vice-chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, and vice-chairman of the Banking and Financial Institution; and

WHEREAS, a loyal Republican, Commissioner Hudgens has served as a GOP delegate at the local, state, and federal level and is committed to lowering taxes, less government, and strong family values; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Hudgens worked in the private sector for nearly two decades and owns and operates several successful businesses today; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Hudgens's vision and unyielding commitment have set the standard for public service, and the members of this body are proud to have their former colleague holding such an esteemed position in this state; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Honorable Ralph T. Hudgens for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and congratulate him upon his election as Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Honorable Ralph T. Hudgens.
