A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mexican Consul General Salvador De Lara; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, there is a bond of friendship between the citizens of Georgia and Mexico, and the people of Georgia welcome opportunities to grow our already deep relationship at all levels, including cultural, academic, and business; and

WHEREAS, Consul General Salvador De Lara has long been recognized for his role in leadership and his deep personal commitment to fostering diplomatic relationships with countries around the world; and

WHEREAS, a native of Mexico City, Consul General De Lara earned a degree in economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a master's degree from the New School for Social Research, and has completed various graduate studies with prestigious national and foreign institutions; and

WHEREAS, Consul General De Lara represents Mexico in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, and has vast experience in the public sector and within international organizations; and

WHEREAS, he has worked in the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Programming and Budget, the Ministry of Fisheries, and the Mexican Foreign Service; and

WHEREAS, Consul General De Lara has served as Counselor and Minister for Economic Affairs in the Embassy of Mexico, Director-General for Inter-parliamentary Relations, and General Coordinator of International Affairs and Protocol of the Senate; and

WHEREAS, he has taught at the Matias Romero Institute for Diplomatic Studies, the Anahuac University, the Center of Teaching and Research in Economics, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this distinguished gentleman be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body hereby recognize the special friendship between Georgia and Mexico and express our appreciation to Salvador De Lara, the Consul General of Mexico, for his efforts to promote peace and grow commercial, cultural, and educational ties between our two nations.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Consul General Salvador De Lara.
