RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Michael Doyle; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Michael Doyle has long been recognized by his friends, family, and community
for his incredible athletic ability and his deep personal commitment to the
sport of cycling; and
WHEREAS,
at the age of 33, Mr. Doyle challenged himself to attain greatness and focused
his strength, energy, time, and efforts into becoming a phenomenal bicycler;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doyle's dedication and commitment paid off in 1980 with his record-breaking
achievements bicycling from Atlanta to Augusta in seven hours, bicycling from
Augusta to Savannah in seven hours, and riding 1,022 laps in 96 hours in a Jerry
Lewis marathon; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doyle completed these amazing feats despite having suffered serious injury
the year before in a major collision with a car, demonstrating how, through iron
will and perseverance, dreams can be achieved; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doyle is united in love and marriage to his devoted and caring wife, Wanda,
and the couple reside in Brunswick, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding accomplishments and the persistence this distinguished Georgian
displayed in reaching his goals is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate and commend Mr. Michael Doyle for his many impressive athletic
achievements.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael Doyle.
