A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Committed 2 You, Inc., of Conyers, Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Committed 2 You, Inc., of Conyers, Georgia, began with an effort to answer the need to improve the increasing divorce rates in communities throughout the nation; and

WHEREAS, born from Georgia Family Council Center for Community Initiatives (CCI), Committed 2 You is a collaborative group of passionate pastors, psychologists, social workers, community leaders, and educators; and

WHEREAS, Committed 2 You is a nonprofit organization whose purpose and mission is to equip and empower all families in the Southeast Metro Atlanta community with the resources needed to build, heal, and enrich marriage and family relationships; and

WHEREAS, the first meeting of Committed 2 You was held in August, 2006, and by May of 2007, over 40 individuals had signed marriage declarations pledging to the goal of strengthening families in the Conyers community; and

WHEREAS, Committed 2 You serves as one of the 12 community initiative network organizations of Georgia Family Council CCI, which connects leaders from various sectors of a community and helps craft long-range plans for strengthening families in measurable ways that best fit the needs of their community; and

WHEREAS, Committed 2 You has the responsibility of serving residents of DeKalb, Rockdale, and Newton counties; and

WHEREAS, Chairperson of Committed 2 You, Joyce Auld was awarded the 2011 Georgia Family Council CCI Leadership while the organization was awarded the Biggest Growth award for 2011; and
WHEREAS, Committed 2 You promotes and educates healthy black marriages by sponsoring events throughout the month of March, Black Marriage Month, culminating with the induction of several couples nominated by their peers into the Black Marriage Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Committed 2 You, Inc., for its commitment to increasing family stability, strengthening relationships, and enhancing the overall relational health of Georgia communities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Committed 2 You, Inc.
