A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Stratford Academy boys golf team on winning the Class AAA State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Stratford Academy boys golf team earned the top ranking in the state, earning the school its 16th State Championship title in boys golf; and

WHEREAS, the Eagles completed their impressive season winning the Class AAA State Championship after earning Stratford Academy its ninth consecutive Region 2 Championship; and

WHEREAS, the title winning team consisted of talented athletes Brian Beringer, Parker Bolt, Will Bowden, Floyd Buford, David Holt Harrell, Stephen Harris, Thomas Holmes, Matthew Jukes, Henry Persons, Robert Persons, Colby Pierce, Ben Ruffin, J.B. Strauss, and John White; and

WHEREAS, Robert Persons and Stephen Harris were named to the All Region Team while Thomas Holmes and Brian Beringer were named to both the All Region and All State teams; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Carter Pierce; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate the Stratford Academy boys golf team for winning the Class AAA State Championship and extend their sincere best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to Head Coach Carter Pierce.
