A RESOLUTION


Recognizing the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Operators Association; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Operators Association is composed of 50 owners, operators, and operations managers representing 277 restaurants; and

WHEREAS, McDonald's spends money for employee wages and benefits and purchases a wide array of goods and services needed for operations which sends a substantial portion of the revenues it generates back into the community; and

WHEREAS, the contributions to the local economy equal nearly $485.3 million each year, including $246.1 million on wages for operating staff and restaurant managers and nearly $98.6 million on benefits; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, the 420 McDonald's in Georgia created nearly 53,240 additional jobs, employed 20,480 people in management, support, and operations staff positions, and spent more than $1.4 billion; and

WHEREAS, the taxes paid by McDonald's Georgia restaurants are substantial and impact state budgets for children and youth services, public safety, environmental protection, agriculture, and other priorities; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable corporation has established a glowing reputation throughout Georgia by demonstrating its beneficial impact on the economy and providing opportunities to the community; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this amazing company be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the contributions of the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Operators Association to the economy and community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Operators Association.
