A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO TEACHER LEADERS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to subpart C of part III to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A-    Teacher leaders; incentive.  The department shall provide a one time bonus of $5,000 to each teacher in the department who completes all necessary requirements to add the teacher leader field to the teacher's existing standard or advanced Hawaii teaching license, issued by the Hawaii teacher standards board.  The bonus shall be awarded only after the addition of the teacher leader field has been confirmed by the department."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 for the teacher leader field incentive bonus by the department of education.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2091.
