STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC HOUSING.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 356D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§356D- Development of property near transit stations. Notwithstanding any provision in this chapter to the contrary, when developing any public housing project located on property within one-half mile of a transit station, the authority shall:

(1) Coordinate the planning of the public housing project with the office of planning; and

(2) Develop the public housing project in conjunction with the Hawaii housing finance and development corporation."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
