HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

congratulating the domestic violence action center on the occasion of its 25th Anniversary.

 

 

 


WHEREAS, the Hawaii State House of Representatives formally congratulates and recognizes outstanding community organizations that have influenced numerous people and communities in a positive manner, and have made significant contributions to the well-being of the people of this State; and

 

WHEREAS, it is a pleasure and a privilege for the Hawaii State House of Representatives to formally recognize the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER on the occasion of its 25th Anniversary; and

 

WHEREAS, founded in 1990 and incorporated in 1991, the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER has grown from a staff of two to a fully staffed office of 52; and

 

WHEREAS, the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER is committed to ending domestic violence and other forms of abuse through leadership, prevention, legal services, individual and systemic advocacy, and social change; and

 

WHEREAS, the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER believes that all persons should be treated with equality, dignity, and fairness; through its high quality and culturally sensitive programs, delivered with integrity and compassion, this creates safety and self-sufficiency for survivors and their children; and

 

WHEREAS, the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER is the only agency of its kind providing unduplicated, specialized services to survivors of domestic violence; programs have been designed with their needs in sharp focus and include: helpline assistance, legal representation, client advocacy, support for families in the child welfare system suffering the harm of child abuse and partner abuse, community education, training, and technical assistance for system reform; and

 

WHEREAS, the staff of the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER is deeply committed to the community and works together with the Department of the Attorney General, the Department of Education, the First Judicial Circuit, the Hawaii State Bar Association, the Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Hawaii Association of Non-Profit Organizations, Advocates for Immigrant Women, the Women's Fund, and Hawaii Women Lawyers to combat domestic violence; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, that this body hereby congratulates the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTION CENTER on the occasion of its 25th Anniversary, expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Executive Director Nanci Kriedman and her staff for their years of dedicated service and steadfast commitment to the people of Hawaii, and extends to them its warmest mahalo and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
