HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

conveying sincere and genuine appreciation for the contributions of the Hawaii contingent of staff and volunteers who supported the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting 2011.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, while the natural beauty of Hawaii is recognized throughout the world, the real beauty of our island-state lies in its people, who through their dedicated efforts to serve the needs of the people of Hawaii and the world have created the prosperity and high standards of living which we all enjoy; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was established in 1989 to foster economic growth and prosperity with the focus on trade, investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic and technical cooperation among twenty-one member economies; and

 

     WHEREAS, Barack Obama, President of the United States, selected his home city of Honolulu, Hawaii, to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting 2011, one of the world's largest intergovernmental meetings and one of the most important international events ever held in Hawaii; and

 

     WHEREAS, the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting 2011 provided Hawaii with a unique opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities in hosting an event of such international stature and to present Hawaii's Asia-Pacific trade and economic strategies for the future; and

 

     WHEREAS, the APEC 2011 Hawaii Host Committee was formed, comprised of private and public sector leaders, with Lieutenant Governor Brian Schatz serving as the State’s lead member of the host committee; and

     WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii is proud to recognize the remarkable private and public sector leaders who as a result of their aloha for their community and the State of Hawaii committed their time, skills, and expertise to coordinate, strategically plan, organize, and assemble thousands of staff and volunteers needed to support the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting 2011; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2012, that this body hereby respectfully conveys its sincere and genuine appreciation for the contributions of the Hawaii contingent of staff and volunteers who supported the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting 2011, and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
