HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

honoring the members of world wings international – hawaii chapter for their dedication to preserving pan american world airways' exceptional history, for promoting hawaii, and for THeir philanthropic contributions to hawaii.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, World Wings International, Inc., a philanthropic organization of former flight attendants of Pan American World Airways, officially chartered in 1959, is an international organization with 2,400 members in 30 chapters in the United States, Europe, and Japan; and

 

     WHEREAS, Pan American World Airways was a world leader in aviation during its heyday, and World Wings International supports activities that preserve Pan American World Airways' exceptional history and the many contributions its flight attendants made to creating "The World's Most Experienced Airline"; and

 

     WHEREAS, although World Wings International adopted CARE in 1994 as its official charity, each chapter of World Wings International supports its own local charities, including schools, hospitals, childcare centers, shelters, food banks, medical research, and other charitable causes; and

 

     WHEREAS, WORLD WINGS INTERNATIONAL - HAWAII CHAPTER received its charter in 1965 and presently has 92 members; and

 

     WHEREAS, since its inception, WORLD WINGS INTERNATIONAL - HAWAII CHAPTER has donated over $150,000 to various charities in Hawaii, including Pohukaina School, the Special Olympics, Pacific Foundation for Cancer Research, and Easter Seals, and, since 1990, St. Francis Hospice; and
     WHEREAS, St. Francis Hospice is Hawaii's first and largest hospice program, providing hospice care services to terminally ill patients and their families in a home setting, and operates two inpatient facilities, the Sister Maureen Keleher Center in Nuuanu and the Maurice J. Sullivan Family Hospice Center in Ewa Beach; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2012, that this body hereby honors and commends the members of WORLD WINGS INTERNATIONAL - HAWAII CHAPTER for their dedication to preserving Pan American World Airways' exceptional history, the many contributions its flight attendants have made to promoting Hawaii, and for its philanthropic contributions to Hawaii's people, and extends to all of its members a sincere mahalo and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
