A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to judges.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 601, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§601-     Disclosure of judges' personal information prohibited.  Notwithstanding any_law_to_the_contrary, no agency shall make available for public inspection or duplication any government record of the home addresses, birthdates, and personal telephone and cellular telephone numbers of full-time justices and judges; the home addresses, personal telephone and cellular telephone numbers, birthdates, and places of employment of the spouses and children of the justices and judges; and the names and locations of schools and child care facilities attended by the children of the justices and judges.  For the purposes of this section, "agency" and "government record" shall have the same meanings as provided in section 92F-3."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
