A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 386-80, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
"§386-80 Examination by impartial physician. The director of labor and industrial relations may appoint a duly qualified impartial physician, whose specialty is appropriate for the injury being examined, to examine the injured employee and to report. The fees for such examination shall be paid from the funds appropriated by the legislature for the use of the department of labor and industrial relations."
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2017-2018 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for examinations by appointed duly qualified physicians pursuant to section 386-80, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2017.
