THE SENATE

S.B. NO.

753

TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE, 2017

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to health.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that it is important to be proactive about reproductive health to ensure that Hawaii's women and families are as healthy as possible.  The legislature further finds that the One Key Question Initiative promotes reproductive health by encouraging all primary care providers to routinely ask women about their reproductive health needs by asking women the question:  "Would you like to become pregnant in the next year?".  This simple question helps prevent unintended pregnancies as well as prepare for healthy pregnancies.

The purpose of this Act is to fund a position for a one key question coordinator within the department of health.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2017-2018 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 to fund one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position for a one key question coordinator within the department of health.

The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2017.
