A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to charter schools.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to allow charter schools that offer adult and community education programs to charge a course fee.

     SECTION 2.  Section 302D-28, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (h) to read as follows:

     "(h)  No charter school may assess tuition[.]; provided that a charter school that offers adult and community education programs equivalent to the types of programs listed under section 302A-433 may charge a course fee as approved by the advisory council for adult and community education established pursuant to section 302A-434."

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
