S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 906.4, subsection 2, Code 2024, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . c. A person on parole or work release who 3 is serving a sentence under section 726.6, subsection 5, 6, 4 or 7, shall not be permitted to have unsupervised access to a 5 child or minor, including accepting, undertaking, or assuming 6 supervision of a child or minor with or without the explicit 7 consent of the parent or guardian of the child or minor. 8 Sec. 2. Section 907.6, Code 2024, is amended to read as 9 follows: 10 907.6 Conditions of probation —— regulations. 11 Probationers are subject to the conditions established by 12 the judicial district department of correctional services 13 subject to the approval of the court, and any additional 14 reasonable conditions which that the court or district 15 department may impose to promote rehabilitation of the 16 defendant or protection of the community. Conditions may 17 include but are not limited to adherence to regulations 18 generally applicable to persons released on parole and 19 including requiring unpaid community service as allowed 20 pursuant to section 907.13 . A probationer convicted of child 21 endangerment under section 726.6 shall not be permitted to have 22 unsupervised access to a child or minor, including accepting, 23 undertaking, or assuming supervision of a child or minor with 24 or without the explicit consent of the parent or guardian of 25 the child or minor. 26 EXPLANATION 27 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 28 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 29 This bill relates to parole and probation standards for a 30 person convicted of certain child endangerment offenses. 31 The bill provides that a person on parole or work release who 32 is serving a sentence under Code section 726.6, subsection 5 33 (child endangerment resulting in death), 6 (child endangerment 34 resulting in serious injury), or 7 (child endangerment 35 -1- LSB 6294XC (1) 90 as/js 1/ 2
