Bill Title: Amends the Chicago School District Article of the School Code. Provides that if a school fails to meet adequate yearly progress criteria for 2 consecutive school years and is located in a violence-prone area, as determined by the Chicago Police Department, then the Chicago Board of Education shall require that (1) students receive at least 10 to 15 minutes of physical activity a day, (2) the school have at least one full-time social worker on-site, and (3) after-school physical activity and academic programs be available for students.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5 34-18.37 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.37 new)
7 Sec. 34-18.37. Requirements for certain schools in
8 violence-prone areas. If a school fails to meet adequate yearly
9 progress criteria for 2 consecutive school years and is located
10 in a violence-prone area, as determined by the Chicago Police
11 Department, then the board shall require all of the following
12 for grades one through 8:
13 (1) That students receive at least 10 to 15 minutes of
14 physical activity a day.
15 (2) That the school have at least one full-time social
16 worker on-site.
17 (3) That after-school physical activity and academic
18 programs be available for students.
