1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5changing Section 1-106 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/1-106) (from Ch. 110, par. 1-106)
7 Sec. 1-106. Act to be liberally construed. This Act shall
8be liberally construed, to the the end that controversies may
9be speedily and finally determined according to the substantive
10rights of the parties. The rule that statutes in derogation of
11the common law must be strictly construed does not apply to
12this Act or to the rules made in relation thereto.
