1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing
5Section 3-6012 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/3-6012) (from Ch. 34, par. 3-6012)
7 Sec. 3-6012. Auxiliary deputies. The The sheriff of any
8county in Illinois may, with the advice and consent of the
9county board appoint auxiliary deputies in such number as the
10county board shall from time to time deem necessary. However,
11such number of appointed auxiliary deputies shall not increase
12after January 1, 1982 if vacancies exist within the certified
13ranks of the department. Such auxiliary deputies shall not be
14regular appointed deputies pursuant to Section 3-6008, nor
15shall they be members of a county police department
16established pursuant to Divisions 3-7 and 3-8.
