HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kathy Schimpf on
4the occasion of her retirement as director of the Williamson
5County Child Advocacy Center; and
6 WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf has been the first and only director
7of the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center since the center
8opened in 1992; during her tenure, the center has gone from its
9humble beginnings of two card tables, six chairs, a budget of
10$65,000, and meetings in the First Presbyterian Church of
11Herrin parsonage to a staff of eight people who work in a
12center-owned residential location that includes two vehicles
13and an operating budget of nearly $500,000; and
14 WHEREAS, As director of the Williamson County Child
15Advocacy Center, Kathy Schimpf has testified before many
16legislative committees on child abuse issues and has sat on
17several committees, task forces, and special interest groups
18dealing with child abuse issues; she also helped expand child
19advocacy services to surrounding Southern Illinois counties;
20and
21 WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf was designated as Advocate of the
22Year at the Downstate Training Conference on Child Abuse in

11996 and 2001 in honor of her accomplishments; and
2 WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf plans to enjoy her retirement by
3spending time with her husband, Rod, and traveling; and
4 WHEREAS, Kathy Schimpf serves as a model of hard work,
5integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
6Illinois; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Kathy Schimpf on the occasion of her retirement
10and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Kathy Schimpf as a symbol of our esteem and
14respect.
