2 | WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA teaches | ||||||
3 | internal arts of
health in 28 states and 25 countries, | ||||||
4 | including Illinois, where it is taught in St.
Charles, Elgin, | ||||||
5 | Bartlett, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Oakbrook Terrace, Arlington
| ||||||
6 | Heights, Palatine, Glenview, Rolling Meadows, Chicago, and | ||||||
7 | Peoria; a new center will be opened in St. Charles on February | ||||||
8 | 23, 2013; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA is a | ||||||
10 | non-profit,
charitable organization operated almost completely | ||||||
11 | by volunteers and having
over 4,500 members, and is part of the | ||||||
12 | International Taoist Tai Chi Society which
has more than 500 | ||||||
13 | branches in 25 countries throughout the world; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA was founded | ||||||
15 | by Master
Moy Lin Shin, who came from Hong Kong in 1970 and | ||||||
16 | devoted his life to bringing
the healing benefits of Taoist Tai | ||||||
17 | Chi internal arts of health to others; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA has a | ||||||
19 | special outreach to
seniors, those with disabilities, and | ||||||
20 | others who struggle with injury or illness; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, The Society's Tai Chi incorporates stretching and |

1 | turning
within a sequence of movements that improve the health | ||||||
2 | of body, mind, and spirit
and when diligently practiced can | ||||||
3 | improve circulation, balance and flexibility,
and strengthen | ||||||
4 | the immune system; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Instructors in the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the | ||||||
6 | USA are
nationally accredited volunteers; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, That the aims and objectives of the Taoist Tai Chi | ||||||
8 | Society of the
USA are to make Taoist Tai Chi internal arts of | ||||||
9 | health available to all, to
promote the health-giving | ||||||
10 | properties of Taoist Tai Chi Internal Arts of Health,
to | ||||||
11 | promote cultural exchange, and to help others; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
13 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That | ||||||
14 | we congratulate the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA on the | ||||||
15 | grand
opening of its center in St. Charles, thank the Society | ||||||
16 | for its efforts to promote a
healthy lifestyle and wellness for | ||||||
17 | all, and we proclaim February 23, 2013, to be
Taoist Tai Chi | ||||||
18 | Awareness Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the Taoist Tai Chi Society-St. Charles as an | ||||||
21 | expression of our esteem and respect.
