HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood has been an expert source of
3information and education on reproductive and sexual health
4care issues for 100 years; and
5 WHEREAS, Roughly 75 percent of Planned Parenthood's
6patients have income at or below 150 percent of the federal
7poverty level; approximately 60% of Planned Parenthood's
8patients access health care at its health centers through
9publicly funded programs like Medicaid or Title X; and
10 WHEREAS, More than one-third, or 39 percent, of Planned
11Parenthood patients are people of color, with more than
12560,000 patients who identify as Latino and nearly 390,000
13patients who identify as Black; and
14 WHEREAS, Per year, Planned Parenthood health centers
15provide birth control for 2 million people, as well as over 4
16million STD tests and treatments, over 360,000 breast exams,
17and over 270,000 Pap tests; and
18 WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood also provides services for
19men; in 2014, Planned Parenthood provided almost 4,000
20vasectomies; and

1 WHEREAS, In Texas, one study found that pregnancy-related
2deaths doubled after the state stopped reimbursing Planned
3Parenthood and imposed stringent funding cuts for women's
4health, which led to 54 percent fewer patients in the state
5receiving care; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we support the funding of Planned Parenthood.
