| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Nan Buckardt, Director of | ||||||
| 4 | Education at the Lake County Forest Preserves, on being part | ||||||
| 5 | of the 2022 class of the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Since 2002, the Illinois Conservation Foundation | ||||||
| 7 | (ICF) has recognized Illinoisans for their significant | ||||||
| 8 | contributions
and unparalleled dedication to preserving, | ||||||
| 9 | promoting, enhancing, or supporting natural resources and | ||||||
| 10 | outdoor
recreation opportunities; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is an educator, conservation | ||||||
| 12 | advocate, and leader from Libertyville and has dedicated the
| ||||||
| 13 | last 30-plus years of her career to inspiring thousands of | ||||||
| 14 | people to preserve and protect the natural world; she helped | ||||||
| 15 | found Chicago Wilderness and the Lake County Nature Network; | ||||||
| 16 | and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, As Director of Education for the Lake County | ||||||
| 18 | Forest Preserves, Nan Buckardt is responsible for managing | ||||||
| 19 | education about the environment and Lake County history, | ||||||
| 20 | including educational programming, interpretive exhibitions, | ||||||
| 21 | acquiring and caring for historic collections, and conducting | ||||||
| 22 | original research; she previously served as a manager of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Environmental Education before being promoted to her current | ||||||
| 2 | position; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is a member of the North American | ||||||
| 4 | Association of Environmental Education, the Environmental | ||||||
| 5 | Education Association of Illinois, and the Chicago Wilderness | ||||||
| 6 | Education team; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt received her bachelor's degree in | ||||||
| 8 | Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and her | ||||||
| 9 | master's degree in Education from Northern Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | University; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt enjoys birding and hiking preserve | ||||||
| 12 | trails; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we congratulate Nan Buckardt on being part of the 2022 class of | ||||||
| 16 | the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Nan Buckardt as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 19 | esteem.
