HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Nan Buckardt, Director of
4Education at the Lake County Forest Preserves, on being part
5of the 2022 class of the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and
6 WHEREAS, Since 2002, the Illinois Conservation Foundation
7(ICF) has recognized Illinoisans for their significant
8contributions and unparalleled dedication to preserving,
9promoting, enhancing, or supporting natural resources and
10outdoor recreation opportunities; and
11 WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is an educator, conservation
12advocate, and leader from Libertyville and has dedicated the
13last 30-plus years of her career to inspiring thousands of
14people to preserve and protect the natural world; she helped
15found Chicago Wilderness and the Lake County Nature Network;
16and
17 WHEREAS, As Director of Education for the Lake County
18Forest Preserves, Nan Buckardt is responsible for managing
19education about the environment and Lake County history,
20including educational programming, interpretive exhibitions,
21acquiring and caring for historic collections, and conducting
22original research; she previously served as a manager of

1Environmental Education before being promoted to her current
2position; and
3 WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt is a member of the North American
4Association of Environmental Education, the Environmental
5Education Association of Illinois, and the Chicago Wilderness
6Education team; and
7 WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt received her bachelor's degree in
8Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and her
9master's degree in Education from Northern Illinois
10University; and
11 WHEREAS, Nan Buckardt enjoys birding and hiking preserve
12trails; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we congratulate Nan Buckardt on being part of the 2022 class of
16the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Nan Buckardt as a symbol of our respect and
19esteem.
