| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize the Metropolis Public | ||||||
| 4 | Library as it celebrates its 100th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Metropolis Public Library was founded in 1913 | ||||||
| 6 | with funds donated by businessman and philanthropist Andrew | ||||||
| 7 | Carnegie; between 1883 and 1929, 1,689 "Carnegie libraries" | ||||||
| 8 | were built in the United States; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Carnegie Centennial Celebration will take | ||||||
| 10 | place on June 8, 2013, at the Metropolis Public Library; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we recognize the 100th anniversary of the founding of the | ||||||
| 15 | Metropolis Public Library; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to the Metropolis Public Library as an expression of | ||||||
| 18 | our esteem and respect.
