2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to commend Harriet Rosenthal on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of her retirement as the mayor of the Village of | ||||||
5 | Deerfield; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mayor Rosenthal is a lifelong resident of | ||||||
7 | Illinois; she moved to the Village of Deerfield with her | ||||||
8 | husband and young family in 1967; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mayor Rosenthal previously served on the | ||||||
10 | Deerfield Plan Commission for eight years and as a trustee for | ||||||
11 | the Village of Deerfield for six terms; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Mayor Rosenthal served as the mayor of the | ||||||
13 | Village of Deerfield for three terms from 2009 to 2021; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Mayor Rosenthal oversaw an important time in the | ||||||
15 | Village of Deerfield, which included the growth of the | ||||||
16 | village's small business economy and a multi-year effort to | ||||||
17 | bring more affordable housing to the community; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Mayor Rosenthal has further served her community | ||||||
19 | as a founding member and longtime executive board member of | ||||||
20 | the Community – The Anti-Drug (CTAD) Coalition, which she |

1 | helped develop from a volunteer group to a nonprofit | ||||||
2 | organization with over 30 member organizations, a staff, and a | ||||||
3 | robust strategic plan; she is the current secretary and past | ||||||
4 | president of CTAD; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, During her tenure, Mayor Rosenthal mentored many | ||||||
6 | elected officials, led with strength during the COVID-19 | ||||||
7 | pandemic, and made a lasting, positive impression on her | ||||||
8 | community; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
10 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
11 | we commend Mayor Harriet Rosenthal for her 36 years of service | ||||||
12 | to the citizens of the Village of Deerfield and wish her the | ||||||
13 | best in retirement; and be it further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to Mayor Rosenthal as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
16 | and respect.
