2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Laura Harms of the | ||||||
4 | Chicago Bandits Women's Softball Team on her retirement; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Laura was born on February 26, 1982; she graduated | ||||||
6 | from Bradley Bourbonnais High School in 2000 and from Bradley | ||||||
7 | University in 2004; she was a two-time, first-team All-American | ||||||
8 | at Kankakee Community College; and
named Bradley University's | ||||||
9 | Most Outstanding female athlete in 2004; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, While attending Bradley University she started | ||||||
11 | every game in her two-year span as a Brave where she was a | ||||||
12 | two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection; she | ||||||
13 | compiled a career batting average of .353, which ranks second | ||||||
14 | overall in school history, while her 135 hits during her tenure | ||||||
15 | at Bradley is the most for any Brave during a two-year span; | ||||||
16 | and

17 | WHEREAS, In 2005 she scored the first run in Chicago Bandit | ||||||
18 | history; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, In 2008 she completed her fourth season with the | ||||||
20 | Chicago Bandits and is an original member of the team since | ||||||
21 | their formation in 2005; she hit .234 with 26 hits, 14 runs, |

1 | and 8 RBI in 111 at-bats and added 2 doubles and 2 home runs to | ||||||
2 | her stat book; in addition, she walked three times with five | ||||||
3 | stolen bases and slugged .306 with a .261 on-base-percentage; | ||||||
4 | and

5 | WHEREAS, Laura works at Oak Athletic Development in | ||||||
6 | Kankakee, doing private softball lessons three days a week and | ||||||
7 | working as a sports performance coach the other three; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Laura is supported in her endeavors by her family, | ||||||
9 | including her mother, Cathy along with Robert; her father, | ||||||
10 | Keith Harms; and her brother, Tony; therefore, be it
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
12 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
13 | congratulate Laura Harms and wish her the best in her future | ||||||
14 | endeavors; and be it further

15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
16 | presented to Laura Harms as a symbol of our sincere respect.
