| 2 | WHEREAS, Child Care Aware of America and other | ||||||
| 3 | organizations are recognizing child care providers across the | ||||||
| 4 | country on May 10, 2024; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Child care providers provide a safe, nurturing | ||||||
| 6 | environment for the enrichment and development of millions of | ||||||
| 7 | children nationwide, and they are a vital force to the U.S. | ||||||
| 8 | economy; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic illuminated how | ||||||
| 10 | indispensable child care providers are for the well-being and | ||||||
| 11 | economic security of young children, families, and communities | ||||||
| 12 | in Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Child care programs, which are mostly small | ||||||
| 14 | businesses predominantly run and staffed by women, continue to | ||||||
| 15 | recover from the health and financial hardships stemming from | ||||||
| 16 | the pandemic while attempting to meet the needs of more | ||||||
| 17 | families; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Child care has been and continues to be a | ||||||
| 19 | lifeline for families, communities, and the economy; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The future depends on the quality of early | ||||||

| 1 | childhood experiences provided to young children today, and | ||||||
| 2 | support for high-quality child care represents a worthy | ||||||
| 3 | commitment to our children's future; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we declare May 10, 2024 as Provider Appreciation Day in the | ||||||
| 7 | State of Illinois; and be it further
