| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the service of Lamar Houston; | ||||||
| 4 | and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston has been a resident of Southern | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois for 65 years and has been a constant resource for the | ||||||
| 7 | residents of Alexander County; he donates his time, wisdom, and | ||||||
| 8 | knowledge to help in any way he can; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston retired from the Southern Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | Electric Co-Op in 2013 after 40 years of service as a Lineman | ||||||
| 11 | and Utility Serviceman; he treated his customers in Alexander, | ||||||
| 12 | Union, Johnson, Pulaski, and Massac counties as family; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston was a friend to all and never met a | ||||||
| 14 | stranger; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston has been a member of the Shawnee
| ||||||
| 16 | College Foundation Board, the Alexander County Board, the MAP | ||||||
| 17 | Board, the Southern Five Board, and the
Village of Tamms Board; | ||||||
| 18 | he was the interim Mayor of Tamms and assisted
residents during | ||||||
| 19 | the 2011 flood in Olive Branch; he has been a member of the | ||||||
| 20 | Egyptian School
Board for many years, serving as President for | ||||||
| 21 | the last eight; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston coached softball and refereed | ||||||
| 2 | basketball; he spent countless hours teaching and guiding the | ||||||
| 3 | youth in this
area; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston mows the lawn of
elderly residents | ||||||
| 5 | each year without pay; he spends time with young people in and | ||||||
| 6 | outside the school
encouraging them to be and to do their best; | ||||||
| 7 | and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Lamar Houston and his wife, Connie (Nelson) have | ||||||
| 9 | been married for 38 years; they have three children, Derek, | ||||||
| 10 | Kimberlee, and Leslie, and four grandchildren, Kourtney, Ava, | ||||||
| 11 | Carter, and Kamryn; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 14 | recognize the service of Lamar Houston, and we wish him many | ||||||
| 15 | more wonderful years; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to Lamar Houston as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 18 | respect.
