2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Eddie "Simroy" Golliday of Belleville, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on January 7, 2017 at the age of 74; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Eddie Golliday was born in Grenada, Mississippi to | ||||||
6 | J.C. Golliday and I.V. Hankins Golliday on June 4, 1942; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Eddie Golliday was a prolific mechanic, | ||||||
8 | maintenance man, and businessman; he started Golliday Rentals | ||||||
9 | over 35 years ago and has owned over 100 rental properties and | ||||||
10 | flipped many houses; he and his wife owned and operated Alorton | ||||||
11 | Hardware and Golliday's "Catch of the Day"; he was employed for | ||||||
12 | over 30 years at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in St. Louis, | ||||||
13 | Missouri and achieved the coveted position of Maintenance | ||||||
14 | Mechanic, being the first and only black maintenance man to | ||||||
15 | ever be hired at that location; after he retired from | ||||||
16 | Pepsi-Cola he went to work for the East St. Louis Park District | ||||||
17 | as a seasonal Maintenance Manager, a position he enjoyed until | ||||||
18 | his death; his love for work was deeply embedded in his strong | ||||||
19 | character; and

20 | WHEREAS, Eddie Golliday was a loving husband, loving | ||||||
21 | father, and devoted family patriarch; he was outspoken, strict, | ||||||
22 | caring, and had a sense of humor enjoyed by all who met him; |

2 | WHEREAS, Eddie Golliday was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | parents; his other loving parents, Olivia Golliday and Jessie | ||||||
4 | Golliday; his son, Cordell; his brothers, Jimmie, Roscoe, and | ||||||
5 | Will Golliday; his sisters, Lela Bell Sally and Ruth Cook; his | ||||||
6 | special mother/aunt, Dora Bonds; his grandchildren, Monte | ||||||
7 | Golliday, Brittany Golliday, and baby Tiara Golliday; and

8 | WHEREAS, Eddie Golliday is survived by his loving wife of | ||||||
9 | over 40 years, Irma McSwain Golliday; his sons, Antwyne | ||||||
10 | (Monique), Dwayne, and Alvin (Delores); his daughters, Annette | ||||||
11 | (Thomas) Hill, Laura Ann Golliday, and Elesia (Darian) Brown; | ||||||
12 | his siblings, Frank Golliday, Tommie Jean Golliday, Shelba | ||||||
13 | Golliday, Douglas Golliday, Earnie Mae Murry, Mildred | ||||||
14 | (Charles) Foote, Rosie Sheperd, James Golliday, and Michael | ||||||
15 | (Paula) Golliday; his 50 grandchildren and great | ||||||
16 | grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; | ||||||

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
20 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Eddie "Simroy" | ||||||
21 | Golliday, and express our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
22 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
