2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Jacob R. Gauwitz Jr. of Maquon, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 17, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was born to Jacob R. Sr. and Marle | ||||||
6 | (Jouvenaux) Gauwitz in Peoria on May 19, 1947; he was raised | ||||||
7 | and educated in Peoria and graduated high school in 1965; he | ||||||
8 | served in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Vietnam Conflict; | ||||||
9 | he married Renda Patrick in Reno, Nevada on February 5, 1967; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz worked as a machinist for | ||||||
12 | Caterpillar until his retirement, after which he began working | ||||||
13 | as a receptionist for Proctor Place; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed | ||||||
15 | hunting and fishing; he loved golfing, and he could often be | ||||||
16 | found enjoying a nice glass of Irish whiskey; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was a loving husband, father, | ||||||
18 | grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was preceded in death by his wife | ||||||
20 | of 50 years, Renda, and his parents; and

1 | WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz is survived by his children, Caren | ||||||
2 | Geckler and Scott (Lona) Gauwitz; six grandchildren; six | ||||||
3 | great-grandchildren; his brother, Randy (Becky) Gauwitz; and | ||||||
4 | his sisters, Cindy Blake and Josephine Gauwitz; therefore, be | ||||||
5 | it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Jacob R. Gauwitz Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
