| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Kyle Robeson of Champaign, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on April 10, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was born in Champaign on August 28, | ||||||
6 | 1929; he attended elementary school in Champaign and graduated | ||||||
7 | from Uni High School; he studied business at Miami University | ||||||
8 | in Oxford, Ohio; he served in the U.S. Air Force and was | ||||||
9 | stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul and Sheppard | ||||||
10 | Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he went through | ||||||
11 | engine and aircraft mechanical training; he attended J.L. | ||||||
12 | Hudson Co.'s Executive Training Program in Detroit and worked | ||||||
13 | for McGreevey, Werring & Howell in New York City; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson began his career at Robeson's | ||||||
15 | Department Store, the downtown Champaign department store | ||||||
16 | opened by his grandfather in 1874, as the manager of the | ||||||
17 | children and infants' department in 1956; through his years of | ||||||
18 | working, managing, and owning Robeson's, he worked with many | ||||||
19 | wonderful people, served many customers, and developed | ||||||
20 | cherished memories; he was forced to make the difficult | ||||||
21 | decision to close the store in 1990, but he was afforded the | ||||||
22 | opportunity to pursue his passion of real-estate development; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was a member of the Champaign Rotary | ||||||
2 | Club for 63 years, where he maintained perfect attendance for | ||||||
3 | 50 years; he was committed to volunteering and donated to many | ||||||
4 | charitable organizations, supporting the Champaign-Urbana | ||||||
5 | community that he loved; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson was known for his zest for life and | ||||||
7 | adventure; he enjoyed flying airplanes, classic cars, pheasant | ||||||
8 | hunting, fishing, horseback riding, skeet shooting, whitewater | ||||||
9 | rafting, big-band music, dancing, photography, Illinois | ||||||
10 | athletics, technology, the conservation of natural areas, and | ||||||
11 | the thrills of lawn maintenance; he will be remembered for his | ||||||
12 | generous heart, big personality, inquisitive nature, and | ||||||
13 | vivacious spirit; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Kyle Robeson is survived by his wife of 58 years, | ||||||
15 | Phyllis; his children, Eric (Lisa) and Kim (Dean); and his | ||||||
16 | grandchildren, Forrest, Ella, and Will; therefore, be it
| ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Kyle Robeson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
20 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
