SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Phil Greco of Villa Park and Elmhurst,
4who passed away on June 20, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, Phil Greco was a graduate of Marmion Military
6Academy and Elmhurst College, known today as Elmhurst
7University; he was a longtime resident of Villa Park and
8Elmhurst; and
9 WHEREAS, Phil Greco served as owner and president of The
10Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park for 40 years; his family
11business hosted a variety of special events, including
12concerts, indoor soccer, corporate events, and public trade
13shows; he loved the challenge of producing unique and complex
14events that were visited by more than 1.2 million people each
15year; he also remained involved with PEP Industries, a
16manufacturing company established by his family in 1947, which
17specializes in ecclesiastical furnishings for Catholic
18churches; and
19 WHEREAS, Phil Greco was involved with many community
20events and organizations, including the Elmhurst Summer Fest,
21the Village of Villa Park Economic Development Committee, the
22International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), and the

1Villa Park Chamber of Commerce; he played a key role in
2establishing the DuPage County Convention and Visitors Bureau,
3serving on the inaugural board of directors and continuing to
4serve for many years thereafter; and
5 WHEREAS, Over the course of his lifetime, Phil Greco was
6recognized for his service and generosity many times; most
7notably, he, along with the Odeum and his family, were
8recognized by the DuPage County Board and the Village of Villa
9Park Board of Trustees with several proclamations for their
10investment and commitment to the community, such as the
11development and construction of The Great Western Trail Head
12Arch; and
13 WHEREAS, In his own fight with ALS, Phil Greco helped fund
14a study with Northwestern Memorial Hospital to research the
15positive and clinical effects of yoga and breathing exercises
16on ALS patients, a study which will soon be published and has
17already proven helpful for many patients with lung disease;
18and
19 WHEREAS, Phil Greco is survived by his wife, Kathleen
20(Olinger); his daughter, Jordan (Blake) Lejcar; his
21granddaughter, Loretta; his brother, Patrick Greco Sr.; his
22sisters, Francine "Sis" (Bruce Campbell) Greco and Renee
23Greco; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and

1great-nephews; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Phil Greco and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
5friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Phil Greco as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
