2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John H. Horrigan, who passed away on May | ||||||
4 | 16, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Horrigan was born to Owen P. and Eleanor | ||||||
6 | (Hurley) Horrigan on December 30, 1924; he attended Cathedral | ||||||
7 | of St. Raymond School, where he was a star basketball player, | ||||||
8 | and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1942; he | ||||||
9 | enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific | ||||||
10 | Theater during World War II; upon his discharge, he earned his | ||||||
11 | Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame in 1948 | ||||||
12 | and his Master of Business Administration from the University | ||||||
13 | of Wisconsin; he married Margaret Irene Dailey in 1949; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, John Horrigan began his career at the 1st National | ||||||
15 | Bank of Chicago; he then became a junior vice president of | ||||||
16 | loans at the Continental Bank in Chicago, eventually joining | ||||||
17 | the Beverly Bank as a senior vice president; after over 25 | ||||||
18 | years in banking, he began working at a variety of local | ||||||
19 | insurance firms; and

20 | WHEREAS, John Horrigan was a member of St. Paul the Apostle | ||||||
21 | Catholic Church in Joliet; he was an avid fan of the Joliet | ||||||
22 | Catholic High and Notre Dame football teams; he always enjoyed |

1 | the company of his grandchildren; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, John Horrigan was preceded in death by his wife of | ||||||
3 | 65 years, Margaret; his son, Patrick Horrigan; his grandson, | ||||||
4 | Eliot Horrigan; his daughter, Margaret Christopher Schmitz; | ||||||
5 | his brother, James Owen Horrigan; his sister, Eleanore M. | ||||||
6 | Adams; and his parents; and

7 | WHEREAS, John Horrigan is survived by his children, Peter, | ||||||
8 | William, Anne (Amy Szczepaniak), Betsey (Tim) Carlin, Stephen, | ||||||
9 | and Kate (Doug) Mohundro; his daughter-in-law, Betsy Hollister | ||||||
10 | Dvorak; his grandchildren, Amanda (Keith) Gregory, Nina | ||||||
11 | (William) Manley, Benjamin (Nicole) Horrigan, Ellen (R.D.) | ||||||
12 | McCabe, Zoe (Don) Lindstrom, Catherine Lowry, Casey (Kailee) | ||||||
13 | Lowry, Patrick Lowry, Thomas Christopher, Gabriel Christopher, | ||||||
14 | and Courtney (Dean) Cruea; his stepgrandchildren, Adam and Jake | ||||||
15 | (Amanda) Mohundro and Johanna, Michael, Kimberly, Patrick, and | ||||||
16 | Samantha Carlin; and ten great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | John H. Horrigan and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
21 | further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
