| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Leon Edward Seay of Gurnee, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 15, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Leon Seay was born in Hurst-Busch to Edgar and | ||||||
6 | Bessie (Myers) Seay on December 12, 1936; after high school, he | ||||||
7 | served in the United States Coast Guard; he later served in the | ||||||
8 | Coast Guard Reserves and finally in the Coast Guard Auxiliary; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Leon Seay worked for the North Shore Gas Company | ||||||
11 | for over 35 years; in 1969, he established the Gas Appliance | ||||||
12 | Service Company, which he operated until 1996; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Leon Seay was a member of the Waukegan Jaycees, | ||||||
14 | the Gurnee American Legion Post 771, and the Lake County | ||||||
15 | Recovery Divers Association; he participated in both the | ||||||
16 | Waukegan and Gurnee Citizen's Police Academies; he was a Free | ||||||
17 | Mason, Anchor and Ark Lodge in Waukegan for the past 47 years; | ||||||
18 | he enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan and constantly tended to | ||||||
19 | the birds and his garden; he loved his family and nature and | ||||||
20 | had a strong faith; and

21 | WHEREAS, Leon Seay was preceded in death by his father, |

1 | Edgar Seay; his mother, Bessie Billot and her husband, Frank; | ||||||
2 | his brother, Master Sergeant Bobby D. Seay; and his | ||||||
3 | grandchildren, Ashley Seay and Derek Anderson; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Leon Seay is survived by his children, Victoria | ||||||
5 | (Robert) Elbrecht, Leon R. Seay and his partner, Roberta | ||||||
6 | Rutter, Carol Rommel, Shari (Peter Markiewicz) Seay, and | ||||||
7 | Michael (Shannon) Seay; his wife, Millie, and her children, | ||||||
8 | Rose, Susan, Ricky, and Cindy; his grandchildren, Brooke, Mark, | ||||||
9 | Dana, Shannon, Bobby, Andrea, Shelby, Erich, Cheyenne, Sofia, | ||||||
10 | Michael, Danny, Melissa, and Nicole; and his | ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren, Braiden, Scarlet, Gregory, Brilee, and | ||||||
12 | Sloane; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Leon Edward Seay and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Leon Seay as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
