2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Earl R. Rogers of Bloomington, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on December 24, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was born September 21, 1935, in Chicago, the | ||||||
6 | son of Vernon and Marie Biller Rogers; he married Kathleen Daly | ||||||
7 | on May 15, 1982, in Bloomington; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, He graduated from Fort Wayne Central High School, | ||||||
9 | Class of 1954, and Purdue University; he worked for Pure Oil | ||||||
10 | from 1954 to 1958 and Old Fort Supply from 1958 to 1972, both | ||||||
11 | in Fort Wayne, Indiana; he was recruited to work in Bloomington | ||||||
12 | for Builders Supply Co. in 1972 and worked there for 10 years; | ||||||
13 | from 1982 to 1990, he managed ACME Brick Co. in New Orleans, | ||||||
14 | Louisiana; from 1990 to 1995, he worked at West Side Forest | ||||||
15 | Products; and

16 | WHEREAS, Along with his partner, Kent Waterkotte, he | ||||||
17 | started Midwest Lumber Products, retiring in 2005; after | ||||||
18 | retirement, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, The Fuller | ||||||
19 | Center for Housing, BroMenn Thrift Shop, and the Central | ||||||
20 | Catholic Athletic Department; and

21 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his |

2 | WHEREAS, Earl Rogers is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his | ||||||
3 | son, Michael (Angeline) Rogers; his daughter, Sheryl (Ashok | ||||||
4 | Srinivasan) Rogers; his stepchildren, Bridget, Molly, and Tom | ||||||
5 | Larkin; his grandchildren, Ashley Rogers, Laura Fuller, | ||||||
6 | Kristen Hess, Sgt. Jordan Larkin, Noah and Jack Bradshaw, and | ||||||
7 | Ashley and Nick Larkin; his brother, Vernon Rogers; and his | ||||||
8 | sisters, Ramona Newell and Lucille Rogers; therefore, be it
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
11 | his family and friends, the passing of Earl Rogers; and be it | ||||||
12 | further

13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
14 | presented to the family of Earl Rogers as a symbol of our | ||||||
15 | sincere sympathy.
