2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" | ||||||
4 | Jordan, of Harrison Township, Michigan, formerly of Antioch, | ||||||
5 | who was killed in the line of duty while serving in Iraq, on | ||||||
6 | March 15, 2010; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Richard Jordan was a 1998 graduate of Antioch High | ||||||
8 | School, where he was outstanding student and athlete for the | ||||||
9 | Sequoits; he also worked for the school's newspaper, the | ||||||
10 | Tom-Tom, for two years; and was a member of the football team; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, He attended Southern Illinois University in | ||||||
13 | Carbondale; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, As an Army recruiter, he was not required to | ||||||
15 | deploy to Iraq, he volunteered for deployment out of a sense of | ||||||
16 | duty to help his comrades; and

17 | WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan | ||||||
18 | is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his daughters, Nini and | ||||||
19 | Jazzy; his uncle, Thomas Jordan; and other family members and | ||||||
20 | friends; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
3 | his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of | ||||||
4 | United States Army Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army | ||||||
7 | Sergeant Richard "Joe" Jordan and his willingness to serve his | ||||||
8 | country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be | ||||||
9 | it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of United States Army Sergeant Richard | ||||||
12 | "Joe" Jordan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
