SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert Lawrence "Bob" Powers, who
4passed away on March 29, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Bob Powers was born in Toledo, Ohio to Laura and
6Edward Powers on November 18, 1939; he graduated from Central
7Catholic High School in Toledo and served in the United States
8Marine Corps; he married Bonnie in Toledo, and they relocated
9to Illinois in 1979; and
10 WHEREAS, Bob Powers worked in sales at National Standard,
11Walker/McLean Forge, Sulberg USA, and FPS Inc.; and
12 WHEREAS, Bob Powers loved to mow, golf, sell and talk
13sickle guards, listen to music or talk radio while driving his
14Shelby, watch a good ball game, and, above all else, spend time
15with his family and friends; upon the passing of his wife, he
16raised his two young daughters with grace and purpose; and
17 WHEREAS, Bob Powers made sure all who were important to
18him felt it and truly wanted the best for everyone he
19encountered; he worked and excelled in numerous fields and
20took pride in everything he did, most importantly what he
21could do for others; and

1 WHEREAS, Bob Powers was preceded in death by his wife,
2Bonnie; his parents; and numerous beloved family and friends;
3and
4 WHEREAS, Bob Powers is survived by his sons, Robert E.
5(Tracey) and Christopher Powers; his daughters, Erin (Colton)
6Boggs and Katelyn (Trey Bergman) Powers; and his
7grandchildren, Robert T. Powers, Raegan Powers, Evelyn Boggs,
8and Holden Bergman; therefore, be it
9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Robert Lawrence "Bob" Powers and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
